LANDSCAPE DESIGNERS SELECTED FOR MANSION IN MAY 2020

February 21, 2020

MORRISTOWN, NJ, February 20, 2020 – The Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC) has selected an impressive group of landscape designers for its 2020 Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens to be held at Tyvan Hill in New Vernon, New Jersey. The designers will provide their landscaping, architectural and artistic expertise to create 13 outdoor spaces for visitors to experience while touring the grounds of this lovely country estate, which opens to the public on May 1, 2020. Funds raised by Mansion in May 2020 will contribute to the expansion of the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center. “With over 12,000 square feet of outdoor space, our landscape designers have submitted unique proposals that are both beautiful and functional. They are exquisite, and will include vibrant flowering plants, water features, relaxing seating, dramatic sculpture and inspiring artwork,” said Katie Nolle, Landscape Design Co-Chair. Katherine Sheeleigh, Landscape Design Co-Chair, added, “We are grateful to Tom Salaki, Principal of Square Acre Studio, for his generous contributions to creating the Master Site Plan for the landscape design at Tyvan Hill. Tom researched the original plans for the mansion grounds and will be recreating the tulip garden in his space, as well.” Tyvan Hill, a large country estate built during the 1920s, includes a U-shaped brick and stone mansion which sits on 20 acres of exquisite grounds. It features beautiful details, such as a curved staircase, paneling and elegant moldings and an outdoor pool and pool house. In 1931, the Architectural League of New York awarded its silver medal to Peabody, Wilson & Brown for the firm's designs of a group of country residences, prominently including Tyvan Hill. The grounds at Tyvan Hill are open to the public at no charge. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the beautiful landscape design spaces, enjoy a light lunch at the Café on the Hill, shop in the 12 unique Boutiques at Tyvan Hill and learn more about the families who lived at Tyvan Hill. Visitors can also purchase tickets on site to tour the interior of the mansion – always a highlight of the showhouse experience.Mansion in May is the preeminent designer showhouse in the New Jersey-New York area, attracting over 30,000 visitors.
