Room 14 - Endangered Wild Animals
As a young artist, I was mesmerized by Rousseau's primitive and naive representation of animals and nature. After painting botanicals and floral still life's for many years, I found animals ,in particular monkeys, to be fascinating subjects. When I realized that many lemurs and gibbons were endangered by deforestation and palm oil plantations, I decided to focus on them. Their appealing innocent eyes, their antics, and their habitat, which I create, transport me to a peaceful paradise. Of coarse, I love color which also can enliven my work and simply bring more fun to the onlooker.
